The Continental Divide Snowmobile Trail links Wind River Country’s different riding destinations. You can start in the south near Lander where the trail follows the Louis Lake or Loop Road along the southeastern flank of the Wind River. This part of the trail is known for its remoteness. You get a long way from the highway quickly once you hit the trail. There are a variety of off shoots from the Divide Trail at this end that offer more challenge and more remoteness, and the area is less well-known than some more popular destinations so it’s likely you’ll have a lot of the country to yourself.
Further north you’ll come to Union Pass and then Togwotee Pass, near Dubois. Both areas offer superb snowmobiling and spectacular scenery. You can hire a guide or rent snow machines in most Wind River Country communities.
