The Historic Trails of Wyoming and Nebraska
During the mid-1800s, some 500,000 Americans "went westering" along the wagon trails that led to Oregon, California and Utah. After following the North Platte River through Nebraska, these trails crossed the Rocky Mountain barrier at South Pass in a place that would come to be known as Wyoming.
